Door To Door
Everyone in the military knows one or two horror stories concerning moves. The military family longs for the 'perfect move.' Our move from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Fort Bragg, North Carolina was going to be just that.
We had been doing this for awhile and had the plan. My husband would leave the day after the packers and meet them at the door of our new home. No storage, no waiting, the perfect 'door to door' move. Richard arrived at the house right on time, but the moving van did not. Day 1… day 2... day 3… The moving company assured him the truck had some mechanical difficulties, but it was on its way. Day 4… day 5… day 6… Finally, the moving company contacted Richard and confessed there had been no word from the crew. However, they did get a call from someone in Virginia reporting a truck with their company name that had been abandoned on the side of the interstate.
Our perfect move had met with a major detour. We waited anxiously to see what damage may have occurred. Amazingly, our things were fine!
The Lord continually reminds me that this world and the things of this world are temporary. My husband and I may one day have a 'door to door' move, but there is only one 'perfect' move. The move I make from this world to my heavenly home—that will be perfect!
