Although this will be a very different kind of holiday for our family, with Bob in Afghanistan, we are CELEBRATING Christmas and the truth that God is not dead, nor is He asleep. He is alive and well and continuing His redeeming work in us and in this world! Our circumstances may change from year-to-year, but God remains who He is – faithful, gracious, merciful, wise, patient, generous, kind, and forgiving. He has been all these things to us in the past year and so we truly REJOICE in Him!

Bob left for Kabul in July. His job is quite a challenge: mentoring and guiding the top legal people in the Afghan military and national police, as well as handling the legal issues that arise in the command. The thing that has been most gratifying for him is heading up the chapel’s Volunteer Community Relations (VCR) Program. This involves sorting, bagging, and transporting donated clothing and other needed items to the Afghan people in refugee camps, orphanages, hospitals, etc. There have been as many as 50 volunteers who have gone at one time and the pictures they have brought back are both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Thank you to all who have sent him packages or contributed to the VCR program!
