With summer quickly passing by (can you believe it's August already?) and Fall just around the corner, I find myself wanting to seize the moment and slow down the summer days that are quickly coming to an end.
For me, summer is a respite from a full-time, very busy ministry schedule. I don't book any ministry speaking or travel events from June to August and I actually take some time off from the office for a long week-end with Bill or a few extra days with our grandchildren. Those three months are sacred to my mind, body and soul. It's when I refresh, renew and replenish as I spend memorable time with family and friends and catch up with unfinished projects (like our new Journal!). It's my down-time to think and process and plan and dream for the future of our ministry.
I hope you are also cherishing the last days of summer, for whatever reasons it holds special meaning to you. Don't let the days slip through your fingers because you didn't hold on to what really mattered. Take time to seize the moments in each day to laugh a lot, play a little, count your blessings, make memories with those you love and-don't forget to smell the flowers along the way.
May the joy of knowing Jesus permeate each day and fill you mind, body and soul with His contentment and peace.
