It is always exciting when I get a phone call from a friend of our ministry who is in town and wants to come by our office. We arrange the wreath on our door, straighten our welcome mat, put on the coffee, pull out the goodies and greet with open arms. We love company! In the last few weeks, we've had four ministry friends from all over the United States visit us.
Rene' Gibbs, who lives in St. Louis, Missouri and teaches our 'Moving On After Moving In' class at Concordia Seminary. Sherri Spicer, who moved from South Carolina and introduced our ministry to Concordia while living there. Brenda Cote, who lives in Plano, Texas and formerly taught a class at Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC. And, Judy Jordan, who lives in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and teaches a class at Village Bible Church.
They caught a glimpse of the magnitude of our outreach around the world as they toured the office, met our staff and volunteers, and received lots of hugs. We in turn, were blessed and encouraged by their presence.
What about you? Will you be traveling this summer - or maybe even moving? If you come our way, you are always welcome to drop in and see us. The important thing is that you stay connected over the summer, especially with loved ones near and far. Give a friend a call, write a note to someone special in your family, send an email to an acquaintance, or even plan a visit to stay in touch.
As you face the hot and often dry summer months, what matters the most is that you stay connected with 'the connector' - Jesus Christ! He is your source and your strength to face what summer brings. He is like a cup of cool water that can quench your thirst as He refreshes and renews your spirit, body and mind. Connect with Him in prayer, through His word, as you listen to worship music or by joining a bible study.
Don't 'dry out' over the summer, my friends. Jesus is available and accessible to you any time. He wants the pleasure of your company. His welcome mat is always out!
The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorch land and will strengthen your frame. - Isaiah 58:11
His going forth is as certain as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain,... watering the earth. - Hosea 6:3 Have a blessed and safe summer!

What do you do that refreshes and re-energizes you?

No matter how tired I may feel, if I take a walk I'll always feel more refreshed.
Barb in Arizona
I go shopping. Even if I don't buy anything, I'm refreshed if I'm out where there are people and I can look at pretty things. The other thing that will re-energize me is to call my best friend. A little girl-talk does wonders!

Balance stress with exercise and rest. That 15 minute walk will do more for you than unpacking another box.

I feel refreshed if I take a shower!

The Lord Himself Goes Before You
I received your book as a going away present from my daughter's preschool teacher in 1997. Since receiving the book, our family has ventured into new chapters of our testimony four times and about to venture on move #5. I have my friends sign the book so they are part of my ventures and I cherish the impact the Lord has made through me to these friends. The scriptures in the book keep me focused on the Lord and the words of wisdom are refreshing and encouraging to me as they remind me that 'I am not the only one who moves or thinks it's the pits!' Thank you so much for remembering that moving can be hard and challenging, but that we must remember, 'The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.' (Deuteronomy 31:8) AMEN!!! I encouraged our church to start your NEWcomer's class and they have!! It's a big success and tears have been shed.
So as I grieve another passing, I realize that God is trying to help me not to be fearful of moves, but to be joyful and let God mold me, mend me and restore me! Your book and ministry have been a blessing. May God continue to shine light into your ministry.

Stay Focused On God's Love
I was asked to lead a devotional for a woman's Bible study on love. As I prepared, the Lord gently touched my heart with the idea that if we are to love others like He wants us to love them, we first must understand his great love for us. I am loved by God not because of what I have accomplished, or because of what I do, or how good I am. I am loved simply because I am His. We all need a reminder that God loves us just as we are and so we are to love others in the same way.
What a delight to turn to your February devotional and see that you too had focused on God's love for us as that which allows us to love others, our husbands. When I read your devotional it warmed my heart as I felt connected to you as the Lord had whispered the same message to your heart. Thank you. You are a special lady and it is a delight to see how God continues to use you and your ministry. Keep on going girl - you're great!

From A Friend
I just have to tell you how great the photos are of the fundraiser & volunteer lunch! I almost felt like I'd been at both of them! What a wonderfully fun time you all had! I'm so glad it was a success for raising the funds needed for the ministry. The thing that was especially fun for me was not only seeing so many familiar faces, but also the NEWcomers ! It was so good to see the Lord working in more moving women's lives. Each smile that I saw brought a responding smile to my face. Thanks so much for sharing them on the web site. You gals are still close to my heart.

Home is neither here nor there.
There they've moved on; here they don't yet fully care.
There I felt valued - every word, every move;
Here I am nameless and have much to prove.
There I knew comfort and trusted in much;
Here I feel distant and crave friendly touch.
There I was neighbor, family and friend;
Here I am stranger. a broken heart on the mend.
In my heart, here may never hold for me what was there,
But one lesson learned here will never compare.
There I trusted in people, planted roots deep in the sod;
Here my fields are yet barren, but all my trust is in God.
