Let me share with you a story about our amazing God. Last weekend was one of those incredible ministry opportunies with a back-to-back, non-stop schedule. Oh how I love the privilege of ministering God's love and encouragement to women through speaking and teaching.

I was in St. Joe, Michigan at the First Church of God to speak at their Women's Fall Kick Off Event. I met with their 'Moving On After Moving In' class leaders for training, spent some time with their Bible Study leaders sharing ideas, and spoke at a newcomer's coffee to encourage the newly relocated Whirlpool spouses. (St Joe is Whirlpool's corporate headquarters.)

When God puts me 'out there' to minister to women, I am always the one He teaches the most! As I transitioned from a Sunday afternoon lunch meeting to getting ready for the kick-off event that night, I stretched out across the bed in my hotel room and went over my speaking notes and outline for the evening. I just did not feel at peace about the flow and order of my outline and struggled with my material. I so wanted the message to impact lives for Christ and to connect the women to His word. Oh how I wrestled within my heart and mind on the clarity of it all!

I slowly lifted my open hands, closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and surrendered my all to Jesus. At that moment, I was not preparing to speak to 300 women, I was preparing to speak to an audience of one!! To please God became my focus. There was that moment of total surrender when I felt total peace. How God wanted the message conveyed became so clear. I quickly rearranged the sequence of my outline and added an additional story with scripture. It was done! I felt God's smile on the pages. I was ready.

Here is the real story of the weekend. It was in that moment of total surrender, when I released my struggles and anxiety to God, that He began to empower, equip, strengthen and fill me to do what He wanted me to do! God continues to teach me as I surrender to Him. He continues to mold me as I yield to Him. He's always waiting for that moment when I relinquish 'self' and become one with Him!

Our amazing God will do the same for you my friends. Whatever circumstances or struggles you might face this fall or when you feel anxious and lack peace about a situation, remember that God is waiting for that moment of surrender, to fill you with His strength as He empowers and equips you for what lies ahead!

May you feel God's smile on the pages of your life.

What special things do you do with your kids to celebrate going back to school?

* Go out for a special treat.
* Snap the child's photo every school year on their first day.
* Set a couple of new goals for the child to accomplish that year.
* Annual neighborhood back-to-school bash.
* Friday nite dinners and a movie rental are the kid's choice.
* Write down a funny joke each week and hide it in their lunch box.
* At dinner, ask for the 'highlight of the day' from everyone.

Choose To Begin The Process Of Moving On
I just found your website and wanted to tell you what a wonderful book you have written and ministry you have created!  I moved one year ago and have read the book four times! Unfortunately, I am still stuck in self pity and complete depression. I am in tears as I write this. I want so badly to move on but I just can't! Even though, I am still 'in a bad way,' your book has helped me so very much!!! I will explore your website and continue to refer to your book and continue to 'PRAY!'
Paula
aa( Paula, we hurt for you as you are struggling emotionally with this move. We hold you close across the miles and will pray that you will choose to begin the process of 'moving on.'  Sometimes when our circumstances don't change, we must 'choose' to live above them with the hope and assurance that comes from knowing and believing in Jesus Christ. He is your hope and your strength )

See The Good Things That God Is Doing
I moved from the Texas Panhandle a year ago to Tennessee. My husband had a chance for a large promotion. I was working in a teaching job I really loved and the Texas Panhandle is where my family and friends have been my entire life. The cultural adjustment was difficult. The book by Susan Miller has opened up the trauma of moving to me and led me back to where my strength needs to be and that is in Jesus Christ and his word. I found her suggestions very helpful and I am making friends and volunteering in my community. We are looking for a good church. The biggest joy that my move has given me is the freedom to stay home and help my family and to take better care of my health. Also the many quiet times have given me a chance to pray for people more and to become involved in deeper Bible study.

aa( Moving is especially hard when you leave behind years of connection, Kristin. How wonderful it is for you to see the good things that God is doing! )

Just Moved! even for those who have not just moved
My husband and I have lived in Arizona for six years now and I'm still not feeling connected. I miss Chicago terribly; dear friends and familiarity. My mom moved here with us (she was my best friend) but she passed away in January 2002. Her passing has definitely made it more difficult for me to get involved with people and things. I don't have any girlfriend(s) I can call and get together with out here. So, I guess I'm asking if I should attend the September conference for newcomers?
Georgette in Arizona
aa( Georgette, you will love the conference and should definitely plan on coming. I can't wait to meet you and help you connect.  You will meet a lot of women who have similar circumstances, be encouraged, and have fun. )
Editor's Note: Just Moved! is hosting a conference on September 23rd for women who have recently moved to Arizona.

September is National Biscuit Month!
Get the family involved to make these delicious biscuits.

Drop Biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
1 cup buttermilk (can be low-fat)

Heat oven to 400° F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil .

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Using a pastry blender, 2 knives held crisscross fashion, or your fingertips, add the butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly. Add the buttermilk and with a wooden spoon, stir until combined. The dough should be very sticky. Using the spoon or your fingertips, drop heaping tablespoons of the dough onto the baking sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve hot.

Yield: Makes 12 to 15 biscuits

Your children need to see
that your life is centered on Christ
