It was incredible! It’s not often you can get so excited over a simple garage sale. Only there was nothing simple about it. Preparation started six weeks before the actual event. The word was out. Items could be dropped off at our hostess’s house any time. Just call ahead. MaryAnn must have opened her garage door a hundred times (at least) as women unloaded their garage sale 'treasures' in bags, boxes and on hangers. Everything imaginable was donated - from gently used clothes for all ages,  great toys and games, antique and new dishes and household items, winning golf clubs, like new computers and tv’s, best selling books, custom bedding and drapes, designer flower arrangements, sought-after furniture,  even a mantle, and a fireplace!

We called it 'From Garage to Glory!' One of our three annual garage sale fund-raisers for Just Moved! It is a way to support our ministry and clean out clutter at the same time. All to the glory of God! But there is so much more to the story…

Through the efforts, labor and team work of our incredible volunteers, the gracious hospitality of our host couple, and our super-star organizer and coordinator - magic happens! Sorting, pricing and displaying items happen with great skill and expertise. They’ve got it down to perfection. These women know how to make anything ordinary look extraordinary. People come in droves from everywhere (one shopper came from Colorado !) They follow the hot pink direction signs that are displayed within a one-mile square of the location, carefully guiding the eager bargain shoppers to their destination.

The best thing of all is what actually happens among the people who come to shop and the women and men (yes, men!) who volunteer to help staff the two-day sale. They greet and welcome with the love of Jesus. They reflect His kindness to the neighbors who offer drive-ways for parking. They build community with one another through the shared experience of laboring together for 'His glory.' They spread joy as they make sure no one leaves without a smile because they got such a 'great deal.' They lift and load in the hot sun with a 'happy to help you' attitude. They touch lives for Jesus as they take time to listen and care for those who come.

Yes, the best thing of all is that the spirit of Christ is present at our garage sales for all to receive!

...and, by the way, the nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars added up to almost $4,000!! To God be the glory! Great things He has done!

Ministry to the Moving Missionary
I work with missionary women all over the world who move a lot. I am always looking for good resources for missionary women and their families and yours is just wonderful. You are now on our website. So, I will be reading your newsletters through their eyes. I have read Susan's books and recommended them ever since I was introduced to them. The one about kids and moving (But Mom I Don't Want To Move) we have featured in our magazine and I am in the process of mailing that book to a missionary woman.

Grateful For The Just Moved! DVD Series
Last year I found out about your teaching on DVD’s. Your DVD’s have been a powerful help in understanding the stages and process of moving. Thank you so much for your ministry. I’m moving on now, in large part due to the wisdom and experience God gave you in your many moves!

Even though I don’t know you, I love you and think of you as a friend! I will absolutely remember your ministry and recommend you to others who need help moving on.

I am rereading Susan's book and it's amazing - it reads differently after each move!! Awesome is all I can say!!!!

Banana Pudding

6-8 Bananas
1 box vanilla wafers
1 large box vanilla pudding
1 large cool whip
1 can condensed milk
1 8oz cream cheese, softened
4c milk

Blend condensed milk and cream cheese until smooth.
Add pudding mix and beat well.
Fold in ½ of cool whip. Mix well.

Layer: Cookies, bananas, then pudding mixture.
Follow in order and repeat layers until pudding is gone.
Add rest of cool whip on top.
I like to add a few of the cookies on top for decoration.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

This recipe makes a lot!

The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parade for us, no monuments created in our honor.

But that does not lesson our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It's overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt.
