Seize the moment...

February is one of my favorite months because "love" and "hearts" are the recurring theme. They are both an intricate part of my everyday life. Hearts are visible in my home, in our ministry, and in this newsletter. I verbilize "love and heart" a lot in my writing and communication as a display of love and affection. My friends are accustomed to getting an assortment of heart gifts throughout the year.

It should be no surprise that this letter each month is called "Heart Talk" and I always sign, "From My Heart to Yours" as a means of conveying my feeling of close connection and love for you. I have everything from heart plates, plaques, pictures and stationary, to a heart paperweight collection on my desk. I am also an incurable romantic. A day doesn't go by that I don't say to Bill, my husband of 42 years, "I love you." My children and grandchildren often hear the phrase, "I love you with all my heart."

When I recently read a quote by Goethe that says, "We are shaped and fashioned by what we love," it resonated within me. Oh, may I always be shaped and fashioned by my love for Jesus! May I always strive to love as sacrificially and unconditionally as He loves! Let my love and my heart reflect the love and heart of Jesus through my words and actions. That's the essence of what this month is all about. It's not about the commercialism of love from the world's perspective for Valentine's Day. It's all about the love of Jesus! May I never speak and write the word 'love' or 'heart' without first being shaped and fashioned in the image of the one who defines true love.

It's something for all of us to think about, isn't it? Life is short my friends, Carpe diem—seize the day! or better yet, let's all seize the moment to reflect the love of Jesus, not only this month, but always!

We can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him. - II Corinthians 3:18 LB

God is Faithful
He has been faithful during all of our moves (this is the 8th in the last 13 years) and He will be faithful again. Now if I can just get that from my head to my heart. Or maybe it's the other way.... I know it in my heart, but my head is concentrating too much on the details.
Janet in Kansas
aa( Often it feels like a million miles between our heads and our hearts; between what we believe and being able to rest in that belief.  God goes before you in this 8 th move, Janet, and will not forsake you. )

Hear God In The Quiet Of Your Day
I get home from work late at night, and I find it hard not to read some of your book instead of going to sleep.
Pam in California
aa(
I’m so glad that you are finding encouragement in the book, Pam.  Hope you’re staying caught up in your sleep )

Put Words Into Action
...I had read your book a few years earlier when our family moved, but re-reading it took on a whole new meaning for me after having just recently moved alone. I sat there feeling finally able to put words to the emotions and challenges of moving. I read the book again after I moved to Virginia the following summer. Each time I've read your book, the themes of letting go, while still cherishing the past, starting over and moving ahead resonate with me.
Elizabeth in Virginia

Each move brings different joys and difficulties.  May you sense God’s presence and strength, Elizabeth , as, with each move, you go through the process of letting go, starting over, and moving ahead. )

Love is the seed of all hope.
It is the enticement to trust, to risk, to try, to go on.

Hebrews 10:23-25 (The Message)

So let's do it—full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.
