A Moving Experience

Last weekend I did something I promised myself I wouldn’t do again in this lifetime…I moved.

As I packed up my worldly goods I couldn’t help but think that Jesus didn’t even have a place to lay his head and I had thirty-five years of “things” to put into boxes. I am like most people; I like nice things. I’ve always wanted my house to be attractive and pretty. But these days my house isn’t a home. My home is where my children are, where my mother is, where my friends are, at my church and where I pretty much just put down my suitcase.

I appreciate the fact that God wants us to be blessed with this worlds goods and that he provides ways for us to acquire them. I have enjoyed every minute of caring for my “things”, but just for a time I am going to put some things in storage and live a simpler life. I want to do more for others and spend less time on my house. I want to have some money handy if anyone needs a little financial help. I want to be able to visit with my kids at the drop of a hat. I want to travel and do some fun things. I want to do some charity work. I want to join a health club. It sounds like I am retiring…not hardly…I will still be working twenty years from now.

God is good and he has great plans for your life and for my life. Sometimes the plans may seem a little unorthodoxed to others, but in the grand scheme of things it will always work out. I believe it because God said it.
