Moving To A Place Called Contentment....

Nothing had gone right for Lisa and her family since they had moved three months ago. They were living out of suitcases, in a two-bedroom apartment, with three small children, while waiting for their new house to be finished. Major construction problems meant they would be in an apartment another one to two months. The carpet had arrived in the wrong color, the wallpaper had been lost in shipping, and a major leak had ruined the walls in the basement. There seemed to be a new crisis with the house every day and Lisa began to grow more and more discontented with everything in her life.

After Lisa had a total meltdown one day, her husband said, "Are we having fun yet?" Those words seemed to break the tension and Lisa began to laugh through her tears. Her focus began to shift from everything that was going wrong, to the things that were going right and mattered most. It's okay, she thought. Regardless of these obstacles, it will all eventually get done. I will get through this. It may not be my way or my timing, but God will work it all out in His way and His timing.

Lisa came to a point of releasing her anxiety over the house issues, which were beyond her control. She made the choice to move to a place of contentment as she changed her focus from circumstances to Christ. As she looked back one year later, she could see God's blessing in every situation and how He worked in and through all that seemed so overwhelming at the time.

Scripture To Remember
Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
- Philippians 4:11-12

Question To Consider
What issues are you facing daily that are the source of your discontentment?

Prayer
Lord, the issues and circumstances in my life concerning this move are overwhelming to me. Grant me peace, calm my anxious thoughts, and instill in me a contentment that comes from focusing on you and your word. Amen

Thought for the Day
Today I will move to a place of contentment by choosing to change my focus from my circumstances to Christ.
