It was an ordinary night. The shepherds were doing their job. Maybe they were even a bit bored with the sameness of their mundane tasks. It didn't take long for that to change. In just a moment, their entire outlook was altered. They took off as fast as they could when they heard the announcement. They hurried to greet the child. I wonder what was going through their minds as they traveled along the road. Were they prodding the sheep along? Were they arguing whether or not they should stop to eat?
I wonder what they expected to see when they arrived in Bethlehem . Did they really think such a glorious event would happen in a stable? Were they prepared for God to humble Himself so drastically? Did they realize God had to come to earth in a way ALL men could relate? Obviously, whatever their expectations, they were not disappointed! After all, they went back "glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen."
We all have certain expectations of God. "When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word" anything can happen. His Word is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword. Believe that God will miraculously make a way, regardless of your every day circumstances. Drop everything. Run to Him. Follow His light with great anticipation of what is to come! Expect a life changing experience through this move. Especially when you least expect it.
