In Him We Live and Move
by Cheryl Wells

In June of 2022, I found myself ushered out of our small northern California town and plopped into Scottsdale, AZ. My husband had been diagnosed with a rare Leukemia cancer and had been referred to the Mayo Clinic Hospital.
I was displaced from my comfortable home – leaving behind family and friends – and propelled into the unknown with God. We were hopeful, yet unsure, of our future. After the diagnosis was confirmed and treatment began, we immediately sought out a church home and the support of fellow Jesus Followers during our journey.
I heard about the After the Boxes are Unpacked study and my boxes were definitely not unpacked. We were living out of suitcases. I thought, perhaps, the class could bring me into community with other women who also, by choice or circumstance, found themselves in an unfamiliar place. But, I wondered how Jesus-centered would this class be. I decided to give it a shot!
Surprise beyond blessing! Jesus is up front and center, walking, and carrying us with Susan Miller’s challenge to ¨Let Go, Start Over, and Move Forward.¨
I was filled, energized, and enthusiastically prepared to face the unfolding of our cancer journey into the unknown with wonderful Biblical concepts, principals, verses, teaching, and deep friendships – all ordained to superpower anyone facing serious life changes.
Unfortunately, after 11 months of fighting cancer, my husband went to be with the Lord.
I’m still in Scottsdale. I’m grateful to continue with Just Moved Ministry – learning, practicing letting go, starting over, and moving forward in my circumstances. I was comforted by Bible verses that Susan Miller shared recently:
“He has determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being¨ (Acts 17:26-28).
¨Tears may endure for the night, but JOY comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
