A husband’s gratitude for the After the Boxes Are Unpacked study

I just wanted to share with you about Just Moved Ministry and its effect on my wife, Lisa.

In August of 2021, we moved to Conroe, Texas. Our children had grown, married, and were starting to have children of their own. Our two oldest children were now living in Texas and our desire was to be closer to them and have an active role in our grandchildren’s lives.

That part was wonderful and very meaningful. Unfortunately, we found that a lot of folks already have a social group – a friendship group – that doesn’t leave a lot of room for newcomers. Lisa and I just had each other.

I had my business, but Lisa didn’t have any support. This was very difficult for her. We tried a few churches, but never found that welcoming spirit that encouraged us to join in and be a part of the church family.

My aunt suggested that Lisa give Just Moved Ministry a chance. She found an After the Boxes Are Unpacked study group on the website. It was being held at The Woodlands First Baptist. From the very start, she was welcomed in and felt a warmth and acceptance.

Through fellowship with the ladies, she found a kinship.

She wasn’t alone with how she was feeling. These ladies, like Lisa, were new to the community and all had various life hardships, joys, tears, and laughter.

Every week, Lisa looked forward to attending the After the Boxes Are Unpacked study group.

It was a welcoming place with opportunities to share and a community that didn’t judge but offered love and support and a safe place to simply be. It provided a platform for them to develop friendships and a place to plug into and feel purposeful.

I saw the joy in my wife come alive like I hadn’t seen in a very long time.

As husbands, we desire to see our wives grow, blossom, and see meaning in their lives. I’m very excited to see Lisa get the support that I couldn’t provide and for her sense of purpose as she provides support to others who have been uprooted by a move.

I firmly believe that God’s intent for us is not to live a life of seclusion but one of being a part of the body of Christ – offering love, care, and support to one another. Lisa is the love of my life, and I’m so grateful for the role Just Moved Ministry has had in restoring her to happiness and a sense of purpose.

After the Boxes Are Unpacked is a women’s study that can be used by individuals or as a group experience online or in churches, military installations, homes, seminaries, mission organizations, and in corporate settings.

The study addresses the many emotions brought on by a move, provides opportunity for spiritual growth, and facilitates new friendships with women who understand the challenges of starting over in a new community.
